The Abbotts Hospital in Guildford is a Grade 1 listed Jacobean premises built in 1619ad. It had very specific Fire Risk Assessment requirements which also needed to be approved by ‘Historic England’. Whilst the fire alarm upgrade requirements within the fire risk assessment had to be incorporated within our works, consideration had to be maintained for the age and fabric of the building and its ongoing residential requirements.
With a wireless fire alarm solution already cited within the Fire risk assessment, a thorough radio propagation survey to ensure the most optimum locations of the controls infrastructure had to be carried out. This allowed for an accurate wireless fire alarm design to be provided to the client which then led to the least disruptive installation.
